- Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra Sweden
Per Johansson, Swedish clarinetist.
After studying for Sölve Kingstedt at The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Per spent three years studying with the legendary professor Hans Deinzer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. Over the years Per has also studied with such prominent clarinet players as Michel Lethiec, Antony Pay, Giora Feidman, Kjell-Inge Stevensson, Karl Leister and Yehuda Gilad.
Per has been solo clarinetist of Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra for 20 years. Apart from concerts, international tours, and CD-recordings, he has also been a devoted chamber musician. Per has played in numerous ensembles, including the woodwind quintet Pollux and the electric duo Essens:1. The latter is a duo together with violinist Ian Peaston in which they cross all possible genres and explore the new sonic worlds of electric violin, electric amplified clarinet, and two computers. Essens:1 has had several works written especially for them and over a period of five years they have performed over 200 concerts.
Per has several times performed Mozart’s clarinet concerto on basset clarinet with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and has also performed the Richard Strauss Duo Concertino with the Swedish chamber orchestra Musica Vitae. As a guest artist, he has played solo clarinet in Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Danish Radio Orchestra and Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Per has given concerts in Sweden, Norway, Finland, United Kingdom, USA, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Brazil.
One of Per’s most recent projects is to search for possible improvements in the clarinet itself. He is inventor and producer of a new kind of clarinet barrel with the brand name AIDONI. The world-famous clarinetist Martin Fröst is a valuable co-creator in this exciting project which is now spreading over the clarinet world.
