An avid composer and conductor, Matt Giannotti has had his music played in venues around the United States and Europe (UK, Spain, and Romania).

He has worked with ensembles such as the Diotima Quartet, the Hebrides Ensemble, Contemporaneous, Edinburgh Composers Orchestra, and the Janus Trio.

His music has been featured during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as at the Shandelee Music Festival in New York. Mr. Giannotti runs Gio New Music (GNM), a company involved in various aspects of music and audio production.

Recently, GNM was contracted to write the score and do audio post production for the film ‘Decisions’ by New York director Mark Harrison. He is currently working on a PhD at the University of Edinburgh in Composition under Peter Nelson, studying tuning systems and rhythmic processes.

He holds a Master’s degree from NYU Steinhardt, and a Bachelor’s degree from Rowan University, studying composition with Michael Harrison, Justin Dello Joio, Dinu Ghezzo, Ron Mazurek, and Harold Oliver.

He has taught theory/aural skills at NYU, and currently tutors composition at the University of Edinburgh.
