Alberto Casadei was born in Rimini in 1987. He first started studying cello with his father Claudio Casadei and at the age of five he won his first competition. He graduated from the Conservatory “G.Rossini” in Pesaro with top marks. Then he studied with David Geringas, Natalia Gutman, Gary Hoffman, Franco Maggio Ormenzosky Boris Baraz, Rocco Filippini and chamber music with Konstantin Bogino. He undertook further studies on full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London, where he completed the Master of Arts Programme with Distinction and was awarded a Dip.RAM for an outstanding final recital. He then completed the Advanced Diploma course, also at RAM, on full scholarship, with professors Felix Schmidt, Mario Brunello and Colin Carr. At the Academy, he is the winner of the Wilfred Parry Prize (2012) and the Cavatina Trust Competition (2013).

Internationally, he has won numerous competitions including the London Grand Prize Virtuoso (2015), the London Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists (2014), the Gaetano Zinetti chamber music competition (2009), the Astor Piazzolla “Libertango” competition (2008), the CIDIM “Nuove Carriere” (2008), the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe competition (2004) and the Antonio Janigro cello competiton (2002). Last Summer, he was Principal Cello in the Arena di Verona Orchestra.

He has performed as a soloist in various venues including the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory with the Moscow Youth Orchestra, the Teatro Politeama of Palermo with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana , the Concert Hall of the National Philarmonic of Ukraine with the Symphony Orchestra, the Perm Theatre with the Perm Orchestra, the Teatro delle Muse of Ancona with the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Sala Maffeiana of the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona with I Virtuosi Italiani, the Basilica Santa Maria in Aracoeli of Rome with the Orchestra Uto Ughi per Roma and the Basilica S.Pietro of Perugia with the Camerata Strumentale of Prato. He has performed recitals in the following prominent venues, Cortot Hall (Paris), Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Teatro C. Melisso of Spoleto, Auditorium dell’Annunziata of Sulmona, Teatro G. Verdi of Pisa, Royal Overseas of League (London), Teatro Savoia of Campobasso, Teatro Massimo of Pescara, Auditorium “Fondazione Cariplo” (Milan), Teatro Gentile of Fabriano, Teatro D.Alighieri of Ravenna, Teatro A.Ponchielli of Cremona, Teatro Manzoni of Milano and Teatro D.Fabbri of Forli.

He has performed under conductors Marco Zuccarini, Michele Mariotti, Nicola Paszkowski, Edward Higginbottom, and Jury Tkachenko. He has performed in recitals with musicians Hector Ulises Passerella, Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Rocco Filippini, Guo Gan and Vladimir Zubitsky. He toured as a soloist in Russia and the Balkan Countries.

In 2009 he recorded a CD of Schumann, Brahms and Debussy with the pianist Federico Colli under the “Azzurra Music” label. The CD was distributed with the “Suonare News” magazine.

Alberto is very interested in contemporary music and jazz and has composed his own solo cello piece, “In memory of Piazzolla”, which has been professionally recorded and the video has been released on DVD with the Italian director Davide Legni.

He plays a Domenico Rogieri cello of the 17th century, which once belonged to Pablo Casals.
