Cellist Matt Walker currently lives in Italy with his wife (violinist Zeneba Bowers), where the two have created a new life as concert performers/organizers, and also as travel writers and consultants through their business, Little Roads Europe.
Prior to moving to Italy, Matt enjoyed 28 years of full-time orchestra work (with symphony orchestras in Nashville, Charleston, Jacksonville and others), chamber music performances (including the Grammy-nominated Alias Chamber Ensemble), composing and arranging, and playing on countless classical and pop recordings, including Chet Atkins, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and Miley Cyrus to name just a few.

Matt and his wife played a series of 62 concerts from their balcony in Italy’s spring lockdown, a series that was featured in news media in Italy and the US, and on TV in “CBS Sunday Morning” in the US. When restrictions were lifted, he performed concerts in Umbria (including the Narnia Festival) and in Lazio with his newly formed group “Cari Musici”.
Matt is also a guitarist, singer/songwriter, jazz bassist, a Grammy-nominated producer and performer, and a composer whose works have been recorded and performed across the US, in Italy and the UK, including by the famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma. His playing and his composing fuse classical training and form with “non-standard” jazz and blues styles.
